Description of Services
MELD’s Workforce Development Program works with mothers as well as fathers. The program provides year-round programming emphasizing secondary school completion or GED attainment, followed by additional training and/or job placement. The program may refer those who have not completed high school to Roosevelt Alternative High School, the Regional Learning Center, or RVC Adult Education GED classes; MELD also provides individual and small group tutoring and counseling to help the youth complete high school or attain a GED. Program staff conduct work-readiness skills workshops for WIA youth. Staff also work individually with youth to help them enter advanced training and/or secure employment after earning a GED/completing school. (Some youth will also be employed while they are completing school/GED.) WIA-subsidized work experience may be used to help youth gain employment experience.
MELD conducts parenting support groups for the youth and provides intensive on-going counseling and mentoring.
The program is closed to new enrollments.
