Congratulations to Bourn & Koch and Rock Valley College, the 2024 Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) award recipients in the Business/Industry Partnership Award category. This award recognizes Illinois businesses that have built successful workforce-training alliances with an ICCTA member college.

Our Board Vice-Chair, Todd Wells, who is Bourn & Koch’s Vice President of Operations was instrumental in this partnership along with Board member, Dr. Howard Spearman, and many others at Rock Valley College (RVC).

“With the investments made, and the mutual desire to grow the industry, we have seen many benefits at Bourn & Koch. With employees enrolling at RVC, and hiring recent graduates from RVC, we have seen this positively contribute to our onboarding experience in the machine shop along with increased productivity. We hope that our involvement at the RVC events will also lead to more manufacturing career interest and positively impact enrollment at RVC. Thank you to ICCTA for the recognition with the 2024 Business/Industry Partnership Award, and RVC for being a valued partner.” shared Bourn & Koch.

As quoted in a Rock Valley College website post (click here to view), “Bourn and Koch has been an essential partner in building the industry infrastructure for the next generation of manufacturing students. Bourn and Koch is one of the most active members of our manufacturing advisory committee, and their commitment to the college has provided careers for many of our students,” explained Dr. Hansen Stewart, RVC’s Vice President of Career Technical Education and Workforce Development.

Todd is thankful for all the support Bourn & Koch regularly receives from Dr. Spearman and the entire RVC team, teamwork that is essential to maintaining a talent pipeline.

Todd Wells is an RVC alumni. While at RVC, Todd obtained a mechanical design certificate, a master CAD certificate, and an Associate in Science in manufacturing engineering. He continued his studies at NIU to earn a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering, a degree obtained primarily through attendance at RVC through the NIU/RVC partnership. Todd believes the investment at RVC was instrumental to creating the pathway to a prosperous career.

Way to go Bourn & Koch and Rock Valley College for paving the way in identifying needs in our local workforce and creating the pathways to fulfill them!
