Job Description

Position: Bilingual Integration Supervisor

Reports to: Director of Bilingual Education

Qualifications/Skills:

Master’s Degree
Valid Illinois General Administrative endorsement
Experience in talent acquisition, cultural integration, and international education.
Strong understanding of visa and immigration processes, particularly as they pertain to international teachers.
Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster relationships across diverse backgrounds.
Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and cultural norms in the host country or region.
Ability to collaborate with others in a team to problem solve and work through tasks
Ability to work with minimal supervision and to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) Months

Basic Function: As a Bilingual Integration Supervisor, your role encompasses not only attracting and integrating a diverse workforce but also ensuring the smooth integration and support of international educators within the organization. The Bilingual Integration Supervisor plays a crucial role in fostering

cultural understanding, providing resources, and facilitating communication to enhance the experience of international teachers while aligning their contributions with the organization’s goals.

Performance Responsibilities:

Recruitment of International Teachers: Develop and execute recruitment strategies
specifically tailored to attract qualified international teachers. Collaborate with international recruitment agencies, educational institutions, and online platforms to identify and engage potential candidates.

Cultural Competency Training: Provide cultural competency training to both international
teachers and existing staff to facilitate mutual understanding and effective communication. Address cultural nuances, language barriers, and cross-cultural differences to promote a harmonious working environment.

Newcomer (Immigrant) Integration: Design and adapt curriculum to support language acquisition and cultural integration for newcomer students and collaborating with educators. Identify staffing needs and recruit qualified bilingual teachers, providing them with professional development and training on best practices for bilingual education.
Visa and Immigration Support: Serve as a liaison between international teachers and relevant authorities to facilitate visa applications, work permits, and other immigration-related processes. Ensure compliance with local regulations and provide guidance on navigating bureaucratic procedures.
Onboarding and Integration: Develop comprehensive onboarding programs specificallydesigned for international teachers to familiarize them with the organization’s culture, policies, performance evaluations, and expectations. Facilitate introductions to key stakeholders, provide cultural orientation, and offer ongoing support throughout their tenure.
Cultural Liaison: Act as a bilingual liaison between international teachers and other employees, departments, or community members. Mediate cultural misunderstandings, resolve conflicts, and promote cross-cultural collaboration to enhance productivity and morale.
Resource Provision: Identify and provide resources to support the unique needs of international teachers, such as language classes, cultural immersion experiences, and access to community networks. Ensure that they have the tools and support necessary to thrive in their new environment.
Performance Management: Establish clear performance expectations and objectives for international teachers, aligned with the organization’s goals and values. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and offer professional development opportunities to support their growth and success.
Professional Development: Develop, implement, and conduct professional development programs for bilingual educators and support staff, focusing on best practices in bilingual education, cultural competence, and strategies for supporting newcomer students.
Crisis Management: Respond promptly and effectively to any issues or crises involving international teachers, such as medical emergencies, legal concerns, or cultural conflicts. Implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks and ensure the safety and well-being of all parties involved.
Other: Assist in the translation of District documents, when needed
Other: Perform other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Evaluation: Performance of the job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of

the Board’s policy of evaluation of Professional Personnel.
