Bourn & Koch is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of a National Sales Manager (Gear) position.


This position is important in enabling Bourn & Koch, Inc. to meet the Company’s Revenue, Profitability and Customer Satisfaction Objectives.  This position provides leadership to the sales channels for machines, rebuilds, spare parts and service to the North American market for a specific assigned product line (gear or grinding).  It also assists the organization with market feedback on the competitive environment, market price and market delivery metrics for the assigned product line.


Essential Functions:

·         Responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing to further business within  assigned key industries domestically and internationally.

·         Develops and maintains sales plans to achieve personal and company objectives.

·         Personal regular customer visits in the assigned product line and key accounts.

·         Ability to travel 60-70% of the time. Travel is mainly domestic however international travel will be expected.

·         Responsible to maintain and develop both existing and new customers within assigned industries for the complete product offering through individual account management and liaison with internal customer support and application and engineering personnel.

·         Actively monitor personal sales goals to ensure that progress is made, and the goals are on track to reach the desired outcome by the set deadline, i.e., quarterly sales, yearly sales

·         Document all activity, projects, contacts, quotations in a CRM system.

·         Makes professional presentations and coordinates product demonstrations on all aspects of products and services, along with product performance.

·         Responsible for relaying market information on price, delivery, quality, machine design features and customer expectations to Bourn & Koch on a regular basis.

·         Prepares regular reports of sales activities (Sales volume, potential sales, and client expansion) regarding performance to objectives.

·         Participates in regular on-site or virtual sales meetings at Bourn & Koch.

·         Represents Bourn & Koch at trade association meetings and tradeshows.

·         Must be knowledgeable with machining processes, manufacturing engineering and lean manufacturing.

·         Negotiates all technical aspects of products and services and implements acceptance criterion.


Preferred Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; 5 to 10 years of machine tool sales management experience, also minimum of 3 years’ experience with capital equipment, preferably in machinery for metalworking.  Gear manufacturing and/or precision grinding knowledge preferred.
