Laboratory Technician

The City of Freeport is hiring for a full-time Laboratory Technician I who under the
direction of the Laboratory Manager, performs a variety of routine laboratory duties
relating to the quality control of drinking water supply and wastewater treatment.
The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, one year of
experience in a laboratory or an equivalent combination of training and experience, be
able to obtain an Illinois Department of Public Health Certificate of Approval for Total
Coliform and E. coli testing, ability to follow standardized testing procedures, and
sufficient computer skills to perform the position requirements efficiently.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Analyzes water samples for the City’s drinking water supply and completes monitoring
reports
Collects and analyzes wastewater samples for both quality control operations and
governmental monitoring requirements
Data entry of general laboratory data on laboratory computers
Other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager and/or Public Works Director
Starting salary is $21.04 per hour with an excellent benefit package that includes that
includes health, dental and vision insurance, plus an IMRF pension. Applications can be
