The City of Freeport is hiring for a full-time Tree Trimmer II who under the direction of the Forestry Foreman will perform a variety of operations related to the forestry division, as well as street repairs, snow plowing and other related work.
The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED (or be able to obtain one within 90 days of hire), a valid Class B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement (or ability to obtain a permit within 90 days of hire), strong knowledge of safety rules and laws or ordinances relating this position, as well as knowledge and skills in the in the operation and maintenance of equipment assigned.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Works on various projects including tree removal, tree trimming, tree planting, stump removal, tree and brush clearing and chipping, snow plowing and hauling, and leaf collection and disposal.
Operates bucket truck, grapple-loader, limb chipper, stump grinder, power saws, and other tree-trimming and cutting equipment, as well as end loaders, backhoes, excavators, dump trucks, rollers and snow plows.
Follows safety regulations and safety policies. Complies with work rules in the performance of duties. Inspects and tests equipment to verify conformance with safety guidelines and directs setup and adjustments of said equipment.
Participates in construction & maintenance projects for city properties on an as needed basis.
Responds to citizen complaints and after hour service requests, as well as subject to emergency call-in for operational or weather emergencies
