The Freeport Police Department is hiring for a full-time Telecommunications Operator.

Consider a career in the fast-paced world of public safety/EMS dispatch. This position has responsibilities that include but are not limited to receiving emergency and routine information by telephone and by radio; dispatching police, fire and other emergency services by radio, by computer (via cellular data stream) and by telephone; providing limited information to members of the public who inquire about public safety services; providing support and information to police officers, firefighters and other emergency service providers in the field; operating advanced computer systems on a data-entry and data-inquiry level; monitoring and operating specialized communications equipment from a centralized integrated platform; completing and maintaining records and forms required of a full-service emergency call center; data entry of computer applications; and monitoring audio and visual alarms.

The qualified candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent required; as well as the ability to pass a typing test, written test, and background check. Applicants must not have been convicted of any felonies or serious misdemeanors. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
