This is not a remote or hybrid position. The position requires 100% office
attendance for a Monday-Friday schedule. Business hours are 7am-4:30pm and we are
flexible on start and end times during those hours, as long as they’re consistent each
day.

Job Overview:
The Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial activities of the general
contracting business, including accounting, financial reporting, payroll, audit prep, and
compliance. This role requires in-depth knowledge of construction accounting, cost
tracking, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have experience in the
construction industry, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of financial
management.
Key Responsibilities:
– **Financial Management & Reporting:**
– Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
– Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles (GAAP).
– Oversee job costing, budget tracking, and project financials.
– Reconcile general ledger, balance sheet accounts, and bank statements.
– Monitor and manage cash flow, invoicing, and collections.

– **Job Costing & Project Accounting:**
– Track and allocate project costs to ensure accuracy in budget management.
– Work closely with project managers to monitor project budgets, costs, and forecasts.
– Review and process subcontractor invoices, ensuring compliance with contract
terms.
– Analyze variances between actual project costs and estimated costs.
– **Accounts Payable & Receivable:**
– Process accounts payable and ensure timely payments to vendors and
subcontractors.
– Monitor accounts receivable, including billing and collections, to maintain positive
cash flow.
– Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
– **Payroll & Compliance:**
– Manage payroll for employees, including compliance with labor laws and tax
regulations.
– Handle certified payroll for public construction projects as required.
– Ensure all financial activities comply with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
– Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors as needed.
– **Financial Planning & Analysis:**
– Provide financial analysis to assist in decision-making for business operations.
– Preparation of budgets and forecasts for the company and specific projects.
– Conduct profitability analysis and provide insights to management for optimizing
project margins.
– **Audits:**
– Organize the required items for annual financial audits.
– Prepare for and assist with the annual worker’s comp audits.
– Maintain data for potential random union wage/benefits audits.
Qualifications:
– Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
– Experience:**
– Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the construction or
contracting industry.
– Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Procore).
– Strong understanding of job costing, project financials, and budget management.
Skills:
– Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with project managers
and other team members.
– Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
