Job Summary

Functioning on the Tri Rivers Systems Engineering Team (SET), the Tri Rivers Systems Engineer (SE) is responsible for the ongoing support, development, documentation and general well-being of the network(s), servers, and surrounding and supporting infrastructure including data center power and air conditioning, wiring closets, remote access for users and vendors, diagnostic tools, monitoring tools, deployment tools, and security systems of the member institutions of the Tri Rivers Health Partnership

Working within the Office of the CIO Structure as a member of the Systems Engineering Team, the Systems Engineer demonstrates all of the following competencies.

Information Technology System Engineering CORE Competencies

Information Technology System Engineering Core Competencies require knowledge, critical thinking, technical skills, perceptual, and age-specific, development/education of others.

Monitors and maintains existing systems and networks within a multiple system domain environment in a quality manner to give the end users the most optimal and secure experience possible in a 24 hour, 7 day per week, 365 days per year healthcare services environment.

Manages project work to completion in an acceptable time frame and documents the task in a manner that allows others to understand the goal, choices, and final design of the installation in the future. Provides support and guidance to the I.T. Technical Support Team, Application Analyst Team, super end-users and end-users as required.

Serves as an internal consultant to THP members providing counsel and guidance, which contributes to the optimum utilization of Information Systems and secures effective implementation of the THP members Strategic I.S. Plan. May also serve from time-to-time when requested as a consultant to other members of the Office of the CIO, vendors, partners, or end-user departments.

Assures Exceptional Levels of Customer Service by completing projects for THP members by assisting in the evaluation of projects, working with staff to assure quality outcomes, assisting with the development and coordination of system support models, and coordinating activity with key vendors.

Participates in the development of functional system requirements, system selections, and system implementation and management of THP member applications. May be called upon to provide for development and support of applications for clients and other organizations.

Aids in resolving customer issues related to systems, networks or operational methods being supported out of the Wight Center (THP HQ), or any of the THP’s members’ data centers.

May be called upon to design, coordinate and conduct educational offerings to develop and enhance the use of information systems for I.S. staff, end user staff, leadership, or physicians and helps to improve and maximize the skills of key end users.

Evaluates customer requests for information and/or information systems using an approved project management approach.

Prepares and maintains documentation for managing THP member Information System operation.

Performs duties as assigned.

Quality and Performance Improvement Competencies Identifies quality improvement opportunities.

Aids in the collection of data and evaluation of performance I.S. operations.

Aids in the evaluation, development, documentation and implementation of changes in practice designed to improve performance of the information System organization.

Resource Utilization: Practices cost containment efforts by efficiently using time & resources, i.e., man-hours, service charges, equipment, supplies, etc.

Work schedule & Time Clock/Payroll: Follows department policies regarding reporting to work, requesting time off and reporting to work on time. Complies with attendance policy. Time card is used correctly and nonproductive time is submitted using proper forms & processes.

Conducts budget preparation and analysis as required.

Education:          A Bachelor’s degree is required with an emphasis in an applicable area of Computer Science.

Note: Relevant experience in computer technology may be substituted for completion of formal degree work as deemed appropriate by I.S. and H.R.

THP Systems Engineers should have a strong background working as a network engineer, or systems support analyst. Specific experience related to systems or network development is required.

Required Experience: 2-5 years prior field related and other job-related experience needed

Licensure/Certification/ Registration: Certification within an applicable technical area. i.e. Microsoft, Cisco, Altiris, EMC, and Citrix is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
