Nature At The Confluence is seeking a passionate, creative, and problem-solving individual to
maintain and enhance our outdoor and indoor facilities. The Confluence is a non-profit
educational organization with the mission to provide inviting spaces and engaging programs
where the Rock River and Turtle Creek meet. We serve children, teachers, and families through
year-round programming that includes field trips and public and private events. The Confluence

Schedule: Position averages 15-20 hours per week with seasonal variability (more hours
during spring and summer) and is limited to 780 hours in a calendar year. Regular weekend and
occasional evening work required. Ability to flex time throughout the week and throughout the
seasons is possible and decided upon mutual agreement. Start date: April 7, 2025.
Compensation and Benefits: $17/hour paid biweekly. Paid time off accruing at 1 hour for
every 40 hours worked. Computer and workspace provided. This role includes a variety of
opportunities for professional development, skill-building, and personal growth.
Responsibilities: The Assistant will work with the Executive Director, interns, and volunteers
to maintain and enhance the grounds and Learning Center building. Job responsibilities ebb
and flow with the seasons and include, but are not limited to:
● Groundskeeping and Facility Maintenance (50% of time)
○ Care for and educate about our vegetable and herb garden
○ Maintain woodland trails, signage, benches, and tools
○ Indoor and outdoor facility upkeep
○ Steward our five acre prairie with assistance from contracted groups
● Engaging with Community (30% of time)
○ Guide volunteers with outdoor projects
○ Assist with educational programs as needed
○ Welcome visiting individuals and groups
○ Represent the organization at community events
● Supporting Administrative Duties (20% of time)
○ Assist with scheduling, record keeping, marketing, and responding to inquiries
from the public
○ Based on the individual’s interests and skills, they may become involved with
creation of educational exhibits, writing blogs, and/or program planning
Qualified candidates will offer the following attributes:
● Understanding of Nature At The Confluence’s history and excitement about our mission
● Associate’s degree and/or commensurate relevant professional experience
● Knowledge of native flora and fauna, conservation practices, and basic tool repair
● Ability to work independently in a continually changing environment
● Ability to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal), Spanish a plus
● Ability to work comfortably with children and adults
● Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions year round
● Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR (training will be provided for those who need it)
● Must pass a child care background check
● Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including regular bending, kneeling,
climbing stairs to get in and out of creek bank, tending to ground level garden beds, use
of power tools such as a string trimmer, and lifting up to 40 lbs
