Groundskeeping is one of the most important jobs for maintaining community housing properties in a safe, attractive, and comfortable condition for our residents. Gorman & Company is looking for experienced groundskeepers who are committed to providing first class groundskeeping / landscape services as part of a collaborative maintenance team.
Orton Keyes was built on the former Nocomo Heights site where noncommissioned officers from Camp Grant and their families resided. Named for the former executive of Rockford Housing Authority, Orton Keyes, now is home to 175 apartments which were renovated in 2017/18. Residents are able to enjoy approximately 27 acres, an adjoining playground, onsite laundry facilities and easy access to transportation.

A day in the life of a Groundskeeper:
Work with our maintenance team to perform grounds maintenance such as lawn services, maintaining shrubs and gardens, spraying insecticides and clean-up.
Outdoor building maintenance – painting, light bulbs, install and/or maintain fences.
Assist outside contractors and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
Assist in supplies inventory control and upkeep of all ground’s equipment.
Maintains watering and drainage systems.
Attends all instructional classes conducted by management.
What do I need to qualify to be a Groundskeeper?
Must have your own vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
Previous grounds keeping / landscaping / maintenance experience required.
Excellent mechanical aptitude with ability to operate lawn equipment.
Must be able to read work orders / service requests.
Good safety habits.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
