Job Summary:
The Coordinator assists with development, implementation and evaluation of activities designed to increase student retention, persistence, and completion of a college degree or certification program by Rockford Promise Scholars. Provides guidance and support for students and mentors, enhances student success by assisting with programs and services including personal coaching, on-going support, and follow-up; assists with monthly workshops, degree progress consultations and referrals to other on and off-campus resources.
Desired Qualifications:
A combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree
Successful experience of increasing responsibility in education, social services, human resources, or a related area
Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of post secondary students, faculty, and staff
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
Experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation
Experience with leading the work of student organizations on campus
Experience with tracking, managing, and presenting data.
Demonstrated research and resource location skills
Computer and technology proficient
Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication, including public speaking
Demonstrated skill in multitasking, prioritizing workloads, and working independently
Demonstrated skill in working as part of a team
Essential Duties:
Serve as the primary point of contact for students and mentors.
Provide support services to Rockford Promise scholars.
Assess student needs and develop, implement, and evaluate plans to get and keep students in good academic standing with Rockford Promise.
Develop and provide early and appropriate interventions, solutions, guidance, and follow-up to improve student retention, persistence, and completion.
Provide individual coaching to help foster student success and academic, professional and personal development .
Maintain scholar records and document communications in appropriate systems
Schedule, document, and assist with activities including, but not limited to, out-reach functions, trainings, seminars, workshops and field trips. Some evening and weekend events may be required to attend.
Provide referrals to workshops and conduct workshops or presentations, when appropriate.
Utilize all available resources, community agencies, special programs and interest groups affecting services offered to students for purposes of student retention and degree completion.
Make presentations to small and large groups as a Rockford Promise representative.
Serve as liaison between Promise scholars and various instructional and student services departments.
Other duties as assigned.

This position will report to the Mentoring Program Manager
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37,000.00 – $40,000.00 per year
