Key responsibilities for this role include:

Know and comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WI).  Create, review, recommend and revise SOP(s) & Work Instructions (WI) as required.  Assist with procedure training and document appropriately.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment to established 6S Standards.  Practice safe lifting, carrying and use of tool techniques in accordance to EH&S guidelines.  Follow lockout and tagout work practices.  Keep all equipment (machine, tools, work station, and storage units) organized and in good condition.
Problem Solving & Communications
Must be able to accurately diagnose most technical problems, recommend solutions, and implement corrective actions without assistance and guide others as required.
Must be able to accurately communicate issues and activities appropriate personnel.
Ensure thorough and accurate entries are made in the appropriate logs and Records systems in accordance to all applicable SOP(s) and/or Work Instructions (WI).
Machines and Equipment
Know all components of the machines and equipment by their technical terms.
Be able to operate all machines and equipment as required.
Perform complete changeovers, set-ups, and tear downs without assistance in accordance to all applicable SOP(s) and/or Work Instructions (WI).
Perform major equipment adjustments, most repair and rebuild projects.
Perform preventive maintenance work orders without assistance and make practical suggestions for improvements.
Work closely with Maintenance Management and Engineering Department to identify, prepare for, and implement machine and equipment improvements.
Lead Responsibilities
Maintain an active and visible presence in the Production areas at all times.
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with training and directing daily activities of mechanics.
Serve as “Acting Maintenance Supervisor” as needed. i. e. Vacations, Personal Days, Leaves of Absence etc.
Help organize and implement new projects and process improvements.
Maintain a positive working relationship with other departments through communication and offering suggestions to solve problems.  Must share job knowledge, demonstrate pride in skills and abilities, and take ownership assignments.
Be active member in site improvement projects, helping to streamline the process, maximize efficiencies, eliminate waste, and help implement improvements to achieve company goals. (i.e. Kaizen, 6S Audits, etc.).
Support continuous improvement efforts to achieve company goals.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:

Must possess knowledge of automated flexible packaging (form, fill, seal, and Human Machine Interface (HMMI) and cartoning in a current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) driven Environment.
Must possess good written and oral communication skills.  Must possess the ability to identify and properly use applicable hand tools.  Demonstrate aptitude for equipment adjustments, problem solving and major repair and rebuild project work, required.
Position functions autonomously and directly reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 3-5 years of Mechanic III (Lead) experience, required.  Technical diploma (or equivalent), preferred.   However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
Fork truck- Preferred
Ability to read and interpret general business documents.  Ability to write routine reports and general business correspondence. Ability to work with peers and communicate basic concepts.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
Ability to solve practical problems through standardized solutions that require limited judgment.  Ability to follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve routine problems
Heavy physical demand. Continuously lifting/moving heavy weight (more than 60 lbs./27 kgs) materials or strenuous activity.
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb steps.  May require use of hands and use of arms to lift and scoop.  May be required to lift or maneuver boxes or containers using lifting equipment as well as physically pushing, rolling or lifting.  May be required to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to: respiratory protection, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes and protective clothing.
Must be able to stand for an extended period of time.  Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Employees should be able to maneuver up to/approximately 180 pounds of weight (with assistance of tools) occasionally. Requires good manual dexterity, reaching, and turning of upper body.  Must be able to lift and carry short distances and up a 3-5 tier stationary ladder, at least 50 pounds.
