With the layoffs at Stellantis and their supplier companies, The Workforce Connection has worked with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), the State of Illinois, and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) to certify the layoffs as “Trade events”, providing additional benefits to the individuals affected.

The Workforce Connection’s team has been coordinating with the leadership teams at Stellantis and their suppliers to set up these Trade events, where information on benefits can be shared with the laid-off individuals and enroll them in this service. The Workforce Connection will connect them with training and employment options to ensure they can earn the same or greater wages to the position they were laid off from.
“The Workforce Connection has been instrumental in coordinating job fairs, helping our members with creating their resumes and facilitating workshops to communicate the opportunities that are available such as the Trade assistance to our members that have been separated from their employers to no fault of their own. The Workforce Connection has a great working relationship with the UAW and their members, and it is very much appreciated,” said Kevin Logan, President of UAW 1268.
