Jose came to The Workforce Connection after being a part of the large layoff from Chrysler/Stellantis in 2022. After attending an orientation event, he learned that we could provide tuition assistance and support him in connecting to training and an in-demand job.
Jose knew that he wanted to get into the skilled trades and worked with his Career Planner to attend the HVAC Diploma Program at Rockford Career College. In 2023, Jose graduated and received his HVAC Diploma, however, Jose was not stopping there! While he was attending school, he applied for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 23 Apprenticeship Program. Jose was accepted into this program and is on his way to becoming a Journeyman! As a part of the program, Jose has gained experience working on the job at Helm Mechanical as a HVAC Service Technician Apprentice. Jose is close to finishing his first year of this 5-year program!
When Jose was asked how his life is different now from when he began working with The Workforce Connection, he said he “now has a clear vision of what he is going to accomplish and how he is going to get there”. He also said that he is grateful for this amazing program that paid 100% of his training and continues to provide support and encouragement. He added that without this program he would not have been able to pursue his career goals of establishing a career in a trade like he had always dreamed of.
